Determining your needs

This is the thinking stage. You need to determine what type of property best meets your current and future needs.

Some questions to consider:

  • Do I plan to start a family in the short or medium term? Will my children be leaving the nest soon?
  • Am I going to work at home? Do I need a garage, an office or a workshop?
  • Do I want a new or previously owned house? Will I be able to do renovations if necessary?
  • Do I want a large plot of land? Do I want space for a pool, shed or something else?

It's important that you do a little thinking because the answers to these questions will guide your search. Your goal is to make the best possible purchase given your needs.
